Canada now World’s biggest Climate Denier
Actions speak louder than words and Canada should be ashamed of their actions or inaction, on climate change. While Canada may talk big on Climate Change, their actions show them to be one of the worst climate deniers!

Oil Sands Tailing Ponds
Canada ranked dead last among industrialized countries, and was second only to Saudi Arabia, in a comparison of the world’s 57 biggest carbon emitters in a report issued last week.
During the latest round of climate change talks, which concluded in Poland yesterday, Canada was seen as having its head in the sand – the oil sands!
The Canadian Conservative government has set 2006 as their baseline for reducing carbon emissions by at least 20 per cent; but using the 1990 benchmark adopted by other nations, the Tory target actually amounts to a paltry 3 per cent reduction. And it’s a target no one seriously, because the Conservatives have focused on reducing the intensity of emissions per unit of production, while leaving the door open to greater total emissions as economic output increases over time. Thankfully, European leaders rejected that approach yesterday, leaving Canada as the odd man out. Only a carbon cap, can reduce greenhouse emissions, year-over-year.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warned delegates, the economic crisis is grave, but an environmental crisis will have even graver consequences. Investing in a green economy will lay the groundwork for future job dividends.
Speaking at the end of the conference, Al Gore won a standing ovation by invoking the Obama motto, “Yes we can.” For Canada’s stand-pat Conservative government, the take-home message is: No, we can wait.
