China Bans Free Plastic Bags Whereas USA Sues

 

China’s June 1st ban on free plastic bags, a success after only one month. Some supermarkets and stores have seen a 90% reduction in plastic bag usage.

Since 2001, the city of Shangri-La has forbid the use of all plastic bags. Southwest China’s Yunnan Province will set a model for the country by banning the use of all plastic bags, effective January 1st 2009.

Meanwhile, in the good old USA, Oakland City talks about a ban on plastic bags and gets sued by the plastic bag industry! The earth will never survive if we let big business dictate what we can and can not do…..
