Do What You Can – Recycle
Most people are willing to recycle these days, if you make it easy! Blue box recycle programs are becoming common place and also improving the products they can handle.
Buy what about hazardous household products such as left over paint, used batteries (AA, AAA, C,D), CFLs, pesticides, etc.?
Most communities have at least one site, where these products can be returned. The one for my city is located many miles outside of the city, on the far side, and is only open on rare occasions. But there is good news…..
Many stores that sell these products, will now take the old/defective/leftover product back. As the Cradle-to-Cradle concept becomes more popular, this could become a standard, or even mandated process.
In Canada, you can now fill the closes stores and other returning sites, via a new website:
Leave a comment and let us know of additional websites that have this info for your area.
Update: for USA, try http://earth911.com/ . Enter the item you want to return, and your city, in the boxes at the top of the page.
