Happy Earth Day!
Happy Earth Day Everyone!
So far today I have aerated my lawns (and my neighbours) and traded in my old “gas” powered lawn mower for a new cordless, electric lawn motor. My local Home Depot gave me $100 as trade-in allowance and promises to properly recycle all “traded” mowers so none end up in the land fill.
Trading in the old mower was almost like sending your oldest kid off to college far away… you know it’s a good thing, but still hate to see it happen. That old mower was 19 years old and still started on first pull every time. The self-propelled mechanism was long gone and you have to hold the bar to engage the blade just right…but it worked great for me. Just the same, I’m looking forward to the cordless electric model.
The small DIY wind turbine is under construction. Once it’s up, the plan is to recharge the mower via the wind. Will let you know how that works out later in the summer….
What are you doing for earth day? Some easy items include…. plant a tree, build a bird house or feeder, clean-up the local park or river bank (don’t get too close to the water)….
Have a great day!
