Just Returned from Green Living Show – Toronto
Lots of ideas packed into a relatively small space and something for everyone. From soaps, lotions, and foods, to bikes, cars, solar thermal, PV and wind turbines.
Most ”seen” product – eco friendly cleaners
Most popular with my wife – hand lotions including hand massage
Most popular for me – LED lights at 50% off the going price
Worst part of show – “un-truths” consistently told to uninformed public regarding power output of wind turbines.
Overall a great show, well worth a visit. I saved the price of entry many times over, just through the savings from the LED lights I purchased. I have to issue a warning though, to anyone interested in a small household sized wind turbine. Know what your average wind speed is for your area and be prepared to get power estimates using that “average” windspeed. In Southern Ontario, the government windmaps will show that wind speeds average around 5.5 meters per second. Don’t let a salesman tell you the great power outputs of their wind turbine at the “rated” wind speed… you want to know what the expected total output will be per month or year, using your average windspeed (5.5 m/s). And get the complete INSTALLED price, including the tower. I love wind turbines. I hate be sold down the river.
