Natural ways to keep Deer away
Deer can be graceful, gentle creatures, but their ongoing healthy appetite for much of what grows in your garden can make them a menace.
Deer love tulips (so do rabbits) and yews. To keep them at bay, you need to create a beautiful garden, that doesn’t “feed” the wildlife. Plants and Shrubs that deer don’t like, include:
Perennials

- Allium
- Artemesia
- Bee Balm
- Bleeding Heart
- Columbine
- Christmas rose
- Daffodil
- Daylily
- Ferns
- Foxglove
- Lamb’s ear
- Lady’s mantle
Shrubs
- Barberry
- Boxwood
- Daphne
- Forsythia
- Holly
- Lilac
- Pine
- Spirea
- Spruce
- Wisteria
You can also try some repellents such as Irish Mist Soap, garlic or moth balls. Remember however, there’s no sense having a garden if you don’t enjoy the smells outside!
