Slow Food Movement

I attended a Slow Food festival a week ago and it was really good. So what is slow food you ask?

Slow Food, as you might guess, started out as a rebellion against a well known fast food chain, that was moving into Italy. The idea behind slow food, is to take your time and enjoy locally made meals, that are usually made from locally grown produce. Take time to slow down and enjoy the flavors. You can read more about slow food here: Slow Food

The slow food festival I had a chance to visit, was held on the rather large lawn, of a local winery/restaurant. For a meager entry fee, you had the opportunity to taste a wide variety of locally grown produce and mini-meals. There was wine tasting too.

One of the biggest benefits wasn’t the great tasting food, but the opportunity to speak with the locals who grow or prepare the food. This was a very educational experience and a great activity to raise awareness of the whole Slow Food Movement.

If you have the opportunity to visit a Slow Food event in your area,I think you’ll find it worthwhile. You can search for local events through this link: Local Slow Food Events
