Tata Motors Announces the Nano $2000 car
The Nano runs on unleaded gas, to power a small 626 cc, 2 cylinder engine, with a mxminum speed of 105 kmh. The Nano seats 4 and comes in a variety of colors and 3 models, which mostly involve trim and color. The top model does include Air Conditioning and Power Windows. At just $2,000 for the base model, we can expect to see many more cars on the streets of India. At GreenTerraFirma, we wish this inexpensive car was plug-in electric!

I have read extensively about this car. It has been reported elsewhere that if this car is ever sold in the USA, which is highly unlikely, that it will retail for $6-7,000 USD in America.
Also Tata Motors has already stated that they are working on and considering a plug-in electric version of this car.

If a version comes to the USA, it would contain items such as a radio, AC, etc., which the base model Nano, at $2,000, does not contain. However, their top model Nano does have these features. I don’t have a price for that model. I agree, that Tata is not like to sell into the USA market unless they can make huge profits. To me, selling a car for $6,000 that cost you only $2,000 to make, is a huge profit. Time will tell.
