Water Heater Repair – Flush

Water Heater Repair – Flush

Do you hear popping sounds from your old water heater? Does it just not work as well – running out of hot water? You may not have a big water heater repair bill ahead of you. A simple water heater flush may be all that you need.

Each year thousands of gallons of cold water enters your hot water heater – carrying tiny amounts of sand, rust and dissolved minerals (sediment). You need to flush this sediment once per year, to improve the efficiency of your hot water heater, thus saving you money and extending the life of the water heater. If your water heater hasn’t been flushed for years, that sediment build-up could be doubling the price you pay for hot water.

If you have a new water heater, or a water heater that has been flushed lately, your ANNUAL flush can be as simple as attaching a hose to the drain valve and running a few quarts of water into your floor drain.

If you haven’t flushed your water tank for a few years, you need to follow these instructions for a more thorough first-time flush. The process is still fairly easy.
